NIENKE SCHOLTS
NIENKE SCHOLTS

Nienke Scholts (NL) works as dramaturge, writer/editor and lecturer. As ‘house’-dramaturge she is part of the small team that runs Het Veem Theater; a house for performance in Amsterdam, were she works in close collaboration with artistic director Anne Breure.
After a 5 year collaboration with visual theatre -and installation -maker Dries Verhoeven (2007-2012), she started to work as a dramaturge for and – develop a long term practice with – Emke Idema (STRANGER 2012, RULE 2014). Currently they deal with the question how to organize their work in a sustainable (long-lasting) way.
Her interest lays in alternative processes in and outside the domain of theatre, that demand different dramaturgical approaches and modes of thinking/acting. Nienke is a lecturer at the department for Theatre Design at the Utrecht School for the Arts (HKU) and a member and cofounder of Platform-Scenography NL.
Nienke writes, and publishes irregularly in performance art magazines like de Theatermaker (NL) – in its summer edition she published the essay ‘Beyond the discipline’, and Etcetera (BE). On their online platform her lecture ‘Thinking-Scenography – some first thoughts’, can be read. See link on top of the page
