NAOMI BUENO DE MESQUITA
In Prague 1 I explore how local inhabitants skirt around tourists, creating escaping routes where sometimes own parallel worlds emerge. I’m interested to find out how their (temporary) worlds come about, where they emerge and the stories that are related to those places and practices. I will ask locals to take me to such a place and to tell me about how the place facilitates a practice of sheltering and the unwritten rules or codes that are accompanied with it.
As for the readers of the map (listeners in this case), they have to go to the exact same location to disclose a story that describes a hiding strategy of a certain location. This very embodied and one to one way of mapping, as well as the question what publics exist or can emerge (apart from the listener) in this form of mapping, will be explored and discussed.
A demo version of the story can be listened to in the expo room. To hear the whole story you go to the website on your mobile phone and download the track you want to hear. The story can only be heard by being present on the exact same spot as where the story was told.
